Cuepacs: Give names of commission members on review by end March

KOTA BARU: Cuepacs wants to know the individuals who will sit in the commission which will carry out a comprehensive and holistic review on the public service at the latest by the end of March.

Its president Datuk Omar Osman said the congress received many inquiries from its affiliates who wanted to know the individuals who would be appointed to the commission.

"We want to know who will be the chairman of the commission and who else from the government will sit in the commission because until now, we do not get any information.

"That is why, we hope the government will announce the names of the members in the commission not later than March 31," he told reporters after the opening of the Civil Servants Financial Management Seminar and a briefing on the improved version of the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM), here.

The event was officially opened by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the establishment of the commission at a special meeting with civil servants on March 8.

Najib also announced the cancellation of the Public Service New Remuneration System (SBPA) and the implementation of an improved SSM, including a salary adjustment of between seven and 13 percent.

Omar said Cuepacs had also agreed to place its nine officers in the commission who would be able to give suggestions and opinions for the betterment of civil servants.

"Cuepacs hopes that the establishment of this commission can be done quickly and there will be a meeting on a much-improved SSM tomorrow and the committee will make a report to the government on it," he said.

Omar said the draft circular on the improved version of the SSM would be examined in the final stage before being handed over to 1.4 million civil servants throughout the country as soon as possible.

He said Kelantan was the first state to be briefed by Cuepacs on the improved version of the SSM before going to the rest of the country in stages. BERNAMA
