Maklum Balas Akhbar: "Grant Us Cost Of Living Allowance, Too"

Artikel hanya dalam Bahasa Inggeris

The Public Service Department (PSD) refers to the letter ‘Grant Us Cost Of Living Allowance, Too’ by R.S.M. Seremban, Negeri Sembilan as published in the New Straits Times on 14 March 2012.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement of the improved Malaysian Remuneration System, Government pensioners will receive a corresponding 7 to 13 per cent increase in their monthly pensions to be paid beginning April, with arrears from January this year.

Since 1980, there have been ten of such increases which they enjoy under the Pensions Adjustment Act 1980. Though of varying amounts, such increases have helped their recipients to keep up with the cost of living.

Beginning next year, there will be an annual increase of pension. Such compound increases are a major enhancement of the life-long pension, which also applies to the widow or widower of retirees.

All pensioners also enjoy occasional special payments, such as the RM1000 they received last year and 2010. These benefits, along with free life-long medical treatment for themselves and their eligible dependent, contribute to a comfortable retirement for Government pensioners, thanks to the Malaysian taxpayer.
